The XVI  Marconi Memorial Contest HF CW 2013

  • Aim: The Marconi Memorial contest HF commemorates the II Century of Radio and its father: Guglielmo Marconi. It’s a World-Wide competition: everybody can work everybody, only CW.
  • Date and Time: Every IV full week-end of June from 14.00 UTC Saturday till 14.00 UTC Sunday. In 2013 it will be on 22-23 June.
  • Classes: 1) Single Operator; 2) Multi Operator. Subclasses of class 1: L) Low Power (max 100 watt out); Q) QRP (max 5 watt out). The operators L and Q in the class 1 will be marked and awarded.
  • Bands and Mode: Only CW, 10 m thru 160 m (except WARC bands) are allowed according to IARU Band Plans. The band can be changed only after 10 minutes you have been on it. The 10 minutes count starts from the first QSO made on that band
  • Exchange: The stations send RST + a serial number from 001.
  • QSO/Points: Each verifiable QSO count 1 point.
  • Multipliers: All CQWW countries count 1 multiplier. The same multipliers can be counted once for band.
  • Final Score: The sum of QSO/Point from all bands multiplied by the sum of multipliers from all bands.
  • Log and summary sheet: Standard Logs are necessary. A summary sheet is required showing all the QSO details on each band, class of entry, power, name, call sign, full address of the applicant, call sign of the operators and a signed declaration.  You can apply for the log to: Download Log ; Summary. Logs must be mailed within 30 days from the end of the contest and addressed to: A.R.I. Associazione Radioamatori Italiani sezione di Fano P.O. Box 35 Uff.   • Penalties and disqualification: Penalties and disqualifications will be applied for violation of the contest rules. Each decision of the Contest Committee will be final.
  • Award: A Plaque will be awarded to the No. 1 top scoring station in each Class and Subclass. A certificate will be awarded to No. 2, 3, 4, 5 top scoring in each class.

      CATEGORIES:
      – SOHP – Single Operator / High Power
      – SOLP – Single Operator / Low Power (Max 100 watt)
      – SOQRP – Single Operator / QRP (Max 5 watt)
      – MO – Multi Operator ***

      *** ONLY Multi Operator stations are limited by 10 minutes rule. They must remain on a band for at least 10 minutes before changing band. The “10 minute clock” starts when a QSO is logged. Multi Operator Station is to be considered only High Power. Multi Operator station must operate with ONE tx only, prohibited simultaneous emission.

      Points/QSO, each verifiable QSO counts (2014 new rule):
      – 1 Point per QSO with same country;
      – 3 Points per QSO with different country same continent;
      – 5 Points per QSO with different continent.

      Multipliers: All CQWW countries count 1 multiplier. The same multipliers can be counted once for band.

      Final Score: The sum of Points/QSO from all bands multiplied by the sum of multipliers from all bands.

      The use of the DX-Cluster system (packet cluster, web cluster) is allowed, for all categories of participants. No self spots !

      Log Instructions:
      – The CABRILLO file format is the standard for logs;
      – The field "CATEGORY:" must contain one of the following categories: SOHP, SOLP, SOQRP, MO
      – Files must be named: YOURCALL.LOG or YOURCALL.CBR
      – Files should be sent as normal attachment to: contest.marconi@arifano.it
      – The entries must be submitted within 5 days of the end of the contest.
      For each log received notification of receipt will be sent.

      Rankings and Awards :
      – Single Operator/High Power: Plaque to the winner , diploma to the 2nd , 3rd , 4th, 5th place ;
      – Single Operator/Low Power : Plaque to the winner , diploma to the 2nd , 3rd , 4th, 5th place;
      – Single Operator/QRP : Plaque to the winner , diploma to the 2nd , 3rd , 4th, 5th place;
      – Multi Operator: Plaque to the winner, diploma to the 2nd , 3rd , 4th, 5th place .
      (Plaques will be shipped to the snail address present on the Cabrillo. Diplomas will be printable PDF files sent by email.)

      Penalties and disqualifications: will be applied at the discrection of Contest Committee in case of violation of the contest rules or bad ham spirit. Each decision of the Contest Committee will be final. Excessive unverifiable QSOs will be deemed sufficient cause for disqualification. All logs are checked using custom software. Call sign errors are removed and receive a penalty of two times the Point/QSO value for that contact. Contacts with an incorrectly received exchange are removed with no additional penalty. Contacts that do not meet the band change rules for multi-operator entries are removed with no additional penalty.
