CQing “Buka Warung” indonesian idioms for ‘Open the Store’, means someone who are an amateur radio operator waiting for being called by DX stations over the world. The procedure is standard as well known as Frequency which been used should have monitored for awhile.
If we were noticed the frequency nothing stations heard or been used, then before ‘Buka Warung’ you must ask:
– Is this frequency in use ? atau QRL?
– If the frequency is empty then you may start CQing.
If you are working simplex, and facing a casual pile up the condition above might be enough. But how is possible when the huge pileup, we must spread the DX stations within mostly wide frequency “up 5-10” in SSB mode or “up 1-2” CW?
The problem is another DX station using upper frequency we used to ‘Buka Warung’. As my suggestion before ‘Buka Warung’ we should check upper and lower frequency which is safe, unused by another DX especially when we decided to work in split.
Complicated…? Correct….!! But…..,
On the daylight, i am monitoring one DX in a frequency (let say XX0XX), which is working split until far away. But around the TX frequency of XX0XX, there were so many stations frantically huge pile and making QRM with calling and shouts their callsign to be heard also crowding the frequency. Gotcha..! HI.
Not surprised when few stations that i called them “Frequency Police” always busy adding QRM with shouts “UP…UP…UP”.
Therefore the DX stations whom were calling around (few stations also using frequency which are zerobeat dg XX0XX) also being monitored working in split, but they did listen on TX frequency of YY0YY.
Here the details below:
XX0XX – i.e. frequency 21.027 MHz QSX UP (unlimited HI HI)
YY0YY – in fact stay on 21.024 MHz QSX UP
The crowd callers of YY0YY absolutely occupying and disturbing XX0XX callers, just because they are also calling on range between 21.025 – 21.027 MHz, even more..
So, how about that.. DX Cluster is more than useful, right? Because when someone will start CQing even already with standard Operating Procedure but maybe “QRL”? Not heard by other whom were using the frequency, vice versa.
OMG.. “Pusing deh Barbie”…..!
